A good week.

I started going to a physical therapist a few weeks ago when I was suffering from a shin splint. The biggest benefit was an appreciation for what a dynamic warm-up can do. It makes running possible on the days it would otherwise be very uncomfortable.

Then I saw an ad for another PT that specializes in running so I thought I’d give that a try. The goal with this PT is to improve my running form. One visit had a significant impact. My form is much improved. I have six more visits scheduled. The challenge is to build the aerobic fitness necessary to keep up with the faster cadence of the new form. I’m convinced it will cut a minute per mile off my pace.

From home I have a view of Lookout Mountain. Today I did a 12 mile run to the top and back down. That was over 1,500 feet of elevation gain on trails so rocky that I had to walk a big chunk of it. But it was a great workout. I need to find a route that’s easier to run up so I can do it regularly at a faster clip.
