Keeping on…

The running is going fairly well. I’m getting in around 40 miles a week. They range from 30 to 50.

I’m having a bit of knee pain but stretching and some body weight exercises are definitely helping. I think I can work through it.

I need to focus on shaving a minute a mile off my pace. My best 10 mile is 93 minutes and I really need to get that under 85 minutes to run a sub-4 marathon.

It’s 150 days or 21 weeks and 3 days until Tokyo. I started running May 6th which was 150 days ago. Odd coincidence to discover that. If I can go from non-runner to running 10 miles at a 9:00 pace in 150 days, surely I can shave a minute off in another 150 days.

I keep signing up for races. The Kodiak 50-K is October 12th. I may or may not do it.

I signed up for Grandma’s Marathon in June as it’s a good summer option; flat with a chance of decent weather. And I have a hotel room booked. Whether I run it or not depends on how Tokyo and Paris turn out. If I run either in under 3:45, I’ll consider myself well positioned to run a BQ when the window opens and Grandma’s won’t be necessary.

With Tokyo, Paris, and Grandma’s, I’ll have marathons on three continents in a calendar year.

My preference would be to run Chicago or Berlin for my BQ. Registration for the Berlin lottery opens Monday. I’ll enter that and Chicago. If I get one of the two, I’m set. There are plenty of backup options but I’ll probably go with CIM.

And I’ll try for NYC also.
